Thanks Lisa! My tops situation is dire and embarrassing! I love your colourful ensemble (great dye job too!) Congrats, Handmaden- I see many #303's in your sewing future! I'll pop the pattern in the mail tomorrow! Thankyou everyone for entering! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The Ottobre Design Creative Workshop #303, Women's Best Tops is one of my favourite patterns...I have now lost count of how many of these I have made!

I love the fit, and the variations are endless.  A great Tshirt pattern is essential in anyones Stash, you can do so much with it!

This is my latest #303. I wanted a top with a bit of a grungey/alternative feel, in some mottled colours...

The fabric is our STELLA cotton/elastomeric, some white that I hand dyed in procion dyes. I used the long sleeve "u" neckline. I evenly divided the sleeve into 5 sections, then cut from alternating colours. (remembering to add seam allowance to the top and bottom of each individual sleeve section).

It is then simply overlocked ( serged),from the outside. Hems are flatlocked.
I am really pleased with how this turned out - I have a new favourite top!

Depending on the type of knit you use, you can get a different type of tee. A knit with spandex/elastomeric will give you a closer fitting top. A cotton interlock will be less fitted.

I have a Creative Workshop #303 to Give-away to a lucky Blogger! Simply leave me a comment as to why you need some new tees! I'll have random.org draw a winner on Sun June 5th!

Hilco Mix on another QUIARA

I did promise to leave the QUIARA alone for a while, but what can I say? I'm constantly finding new colour mixes for it? ( and really, I think the "farbenmix" crew do that on purpose..;)) such a brilliant pattern and it fits Miss L beautifully. QUIARA is in English, too, for anyone that has not yet succumbed to it's charms.

These are some of the most recent Hilco knits from Crafty Mamas shop, most are now sold out ( sorry! A heap more due in very soon with the new season Hilco). Thank goodness I remembered to set aside some for myself this time ( I miss out every time!).

I have used Campante on the sleeves and Campan on the neckline.  The clever folk at HILCO add a smidge of elastomeric ( spandex) to Campan and Campante- which gives it brilliant recovery ( by my calculations I get approx a stretch factor of 60%)..so it is wonderful for using on your necklines, cuffs, anywhere you would normally use ribbing.( and makes the best leggins!). The body is the lovely Hilco Funghi knit in pink.

Off to plan another Quiara ;)

Sew Mama Sew GIVEAWAY Day!

 Welcome Sew Mama Sew readers!

This is Crafty Mama's second year of participating in the fun Sew Mama Sew Giveaway Day, it's a bit like an early Christmas isn't it??

This year we have 1 x Ottobre Design 6 issue subscription
( 4 kids issues, 2 womens) to Giveaway to  ONE lucky person!

Open to current subscribers and those that are yet to subscribe!

Crafty Mamas has now been associated with Ottobre Design as their Australian wholesale agent  and stockist for going on six years.  In fact, we were instrumental in bringing Otto back to Aus after is was no longer available in newsagents.  Otto helped to shape us and in a way, help make Crafty Mamas what is it today!

Ottobre Design has given us access to beautiful, trendy ( affordable!) quality patterns with  an emphasis on quality, eco conscious fabrics. Their instructions are often full of industrial style tips to  help us sew even better. In short, I think Otto have revolutionized the way we sew. And Crafty Mamas is very proud to be associated with them.

Do you subscribe to Otto?

Leave me a comment for your chance to win this fantastic Giveaway!

Closes May 25th.

Good Luck!

I know... it's only ROCK N ROLL.....

I was recently asked to be a Guest WAHM over at Gossamer Dreams ( quite the honour! Boy was I nervous!) by my pal Lesley from Cherub's Kiss ( got a bub? Go check out Lesley's amazing MCN's!). One of the items I made was this....

My little Rock & Roll Baby French Terry Lycra outfit. This is made from the beautiful French Terry Lycra from Crafty Mamas, and the CUTEST Farbenmix pattern...Zvergenverpackung ( Baby Collection). The  iron on Gold star is one of my own, available at Crafty Mamas too.

Hope your weekend is lovely!
