Thanks Lisa! My tops situation is dire and embarrassing! I love your colourful ensemble (great dye job too!) Congrats, Handmaden- I see many #303's in your sewing future! I'll pop the pattern in the mail tomorrow! Thankyou everyone for entering! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The Ottobre Design Creative Workshop #303, Women's Best Tops is one of my favourite patterns...I have now lost count of how many of these I have made!

I love the fit, and the variations are endless.  A great Tshirt pattern is essential in anyones Stash, you can do so much with it!

This is my latest #303. I wanted a top with a bit of a grungey/alternative feel, in some mottled colours...

The fabric is our STELLA cotton/elastomeric, some white that I hand dyed in procion dyes. I used the long sleeve "u" neckline. I evenly divided the sleeve into 5 sections, then cut from alternating colours. (remembering to add seam allowance to the top and bottom of each individual sleeve section).

It is then simply overlocked ( serged),from the outside. Hems are flatlocked.
I am really pleased with how this turned out - I have a new favourite top!

Depending on the type of knit you use, you can get a different type of tee. A knit with spandex/elastomeric will give you a closer fitting top. A cotton interlock will be less fitted.

I have a Creative Workshop #303 to Give-away to a lucky Blogger! Simply leave me a comment as to why you need some new tees! I'll have random.org draw a winner on Sun June 5th!

  2. Oooh pick me pick me random.org!!
I've been on a skirt making frenzy (now I know how) and have three new skirts but no tops to wear with them! This would be the perfect pattern to get stuck into for some coordinating tops.
PS - love that one Lisa - serging on the outside is a great idea.

  4. I can never seem to find t-shirts that are long enough for me. I have the 301 pattern for the kids, what I really need is a good t-shirt pattern for me so I can make t-shirts that fit me properly.

I have a really hard time finding shirts that fit me well, they're almost always too short!

  12. oh I have been eyeing this off for a while! If you really want to know (and you might wish you didnt) most of my t-shirts have stains on the front, because, well, I have big boobs, and they sort of seem to 'catch' things and create stains. I could make a bib, but I would much prefer to win this pattern and make me some new t's! thanks for anothe giveaway Lisa.

  13. Why do I need new tees?? Well I have a 12 week old baby after an 11yr gap and of course I wore a lot of mine during pregnancy so besides stretching them I am sick to death of wearing them!! It would be great to tailor the pattern just to me re length etc.

    Thanks for the opportunity!!

  14. I haven't made anything for me to wear. I've only made kids clothes so far. This could be just what I need to get me started!

  15. Post baby bulge! All my t-shirts are now too short, I'd like to say that it is due to a height growth, but alas it is more of the tshirt needing to stretch around my middle that has caused the shortening! I'd love an Ottobre tshirt pattern as I love how easily their patterns go together, and your shirt shows just how great they look too! Fingers crossed!

Ooh pick me! I just cut up my fave T shirt last night to make a little T for my daughter. I wanted to test the pattern I'm using to sew up all the fabric I bought from you a couple of weeks ago, and my T had stains on it. Here are some of the things I think were staining it:
    Breastmilk
    Boogers
Interesting mud ('Look what I found mum!')
    Cheese
Butter (anyone elses's kids like to eat butter straight from the dish?)
    Spaghetti sauce
    Banana
The chocolate left on the kids' faces after they drink a babycino...

As I'm sure you will agree, I am pretty hard on my clothes and need some new T shirts!

And in closing...pick me, pick me, pick me :)

  17. It's just started getting cold, and i do not have enough long sleeve shirts around, and the shops just have boring ones- and i have these big shoulders, which makes it a little bit harder to buy shirts that fit in the right places!!!
